Exciting Events are Afoot!

Remember how much fun we had at the Art Walk this spring!?!  We get to start out the school year with an Art Walk August 23rd!!  Mrs. Meyer's (Girard High School Art teacher extraordinaire) and myself have put our heads together for some great activities our clubs can participate in and share with the community.  This will take place on Friday, August 23rd from 5-9:00 pm.

Another event happening earlier in the week is the  MAC Fitness sponsored "Walk your Art Out" run and fun walk.  This will be held on Wednesday, August 21 at 6:30pm.  More information is at the below link.  I am a little uncertain of where registration is, but am sure if you gave MAC a call they could clear any questions you might have.

One More Week

In another week we will be back in school (a little more than a week), sharing our summer fun with all of our friends!  Looking forward to seeing former students and new students!

Some Time Ago

Some time ago, we went outside to create contour drawings of the marshfield and surrounding area.  It was a beautiful day, and the students discovered that it can be difficult to execute a nice contour.  It is difficult to draw what we see and not what are minds think is there.

Intro Students and Color

Introduction to Art students are learning some aspects of color that are keeping their heads spinning.  They are handling the new information like champs.  We are using mandalas to demonstrate three different color combinations.  See if you can recognize if the artist is utilizing complementary, analogous or monochromatic color harmonies!

Wow!! Ceramics I Students

A number of ceramics students blew my socks off with their enthusiasm and ideas for working with slabs of clay.  Imagination was running freely and we were going to town.  There was texturing, shaping, trimming, molding and much more!

Busy, Busy Intro to Art Class

Introduction to Art has been hitting the Elements of Design.  So far we have worked with line, value, and color.

Our main project with line was a contour drawing.  Students learned how difficult it is to create a blind contour drawing.  Students used their shoes as a model.  There were no complaints of odors emanating from the art class!

A few of the students utilized their text book as a stand for their shoes so they could be viewed from a different angle.
