Ceramics has been walking through history with their creations.  We began the year making pinch pot vases out of two pots bonded together then we made coil bowls reminiscent of  Mimbre bowls with colored slip designs painted on the interior.  Below are pictures from various student work.

More!!

Our last project in Ceramics II is a sculpture of the students choice with the hand-building method of their choice.  Above is a great start to a hand.

Below are pics from the Intro to Art ceramics project.  The last few semesters we have looked at various types and fish and makes them the same and different, then used those thoughts as a stepping stone to their own sculpture.  The results have been fabulous.  More pics to follow with the wonderful glazing job from the students.

100 Hundred Days of Dragons

All of the classes have donated a little of their time to color dragons in celebration of 100 days of school.  Yes, our 100th day was a week ago and we are a little behind.  Below are a few of our dragons.

Ceramics Update!

The Ceramics II course is busy!  The class is currently split into three different work groups.  Five lucky students are spending two weeks using the wheel, several students who were using the wheel are now creating their birds in clay and the third group is moving forward into making a functional tea service set.  For the tea service we are using modern and traditional adaptations of a Japanese tea set.
