Art Club!!

Art club has started the year off with plenty of activities to keep us busy.  In the midst of planning for a halloween party, we are creating designs for a club tshirt, and keeping the home varsity football games supplied with spirit signs.

Ceramics has been walking through history with their creations.  We began the year making pinch pot vases out of two pots bonded together then we made coil bowls reminiscent of  Mimbre bowls with colored slip designs painted on the interior.  Below are pictures from various student work.

Intro to Art and Color

The Intro classes have been working away creating color wheels then using the wheel to aide in choosing color harmonies.  I have been so impressed with how diligent our students have worked!  See if you can recognize the color harmony!

School! School! School!

The school year is upon us and the summer becoming a memory as we get our classrooms (and brains) up to speed!

The PHS Art teachers are so excited for the upcoming year!  We have some cool lessons and projects to share with you this semester.

Below are some pics of the work done in Mrs. Lomshek's room this summer.  The HUGE metal hood is now gone and we now have vents over each of the kilns.  You know what that means?!?  More ceramics!  I apologize for the pics, I took them with the laptop web cam.

See you soon!!

More!!

Our last project in Ceramics II is a sculpture of the students choice with the hand-building method of their choice.  Above is a great start to a hand.

Below are pics from the Intro to Art ceramics project.  The last few semesters we have looked at various types and fish and makes them the same and different, then used those thoughts as a stepping stone to their own sculpture.  The results have been fabulous.  More pics to follow with the wonderful glazing job from the students.

Last Few Weeks

The last few weeks of school are always hectic and full.  Here are some of the latest pics from jewelry class.  We have been experimenting with various methods to add texture to metal.  Whether the texture was created with hammers, concrete, manhole covers or asphalt, we have it covered!  The copper circles below are washers you can purchase at your local hardware store.
